HIGH SCHOOL RETREATS

Senior Years students kick off the school year with an annual out-of-school retreat during the third week of September. Historically, students have traveled to Valley View Bible Camp where they have had an opportunity to build community and cohesion as a grades 9-12 cohort, spending time with new and old friends alike. The group enjoys time in a beautiful setting while hearing from guest speakers and pastors.

The Spring in-school retreat is held at Westpark in April and has become a time-honoured tradition where students in grades 7-12 are invited to hear from a keynote speaker who is often brought in from a partner church or ministry. Senior Years students in grades 9-12 then attend breakout sessions on a host of different topics such as finance, body image, mental health, listening to God, and how to reflect Jesus’ character in athletics.

Both the fall and spring retreats are built into the Bible curriculum and students take notes on speakers and write reflections on what they’ve heard and learned.

The out-of-school retreat is the best way to create friendships with new students, peers you don’t know well, and to strengthen current friendships. It is an amazing event full of fun games, meaningful worship and sermon sessions, and delicious food! The retreats will surely be on my list of best memories in highschool.
